The town of Towcester, surrounded by the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside, has much to offer both resident and visitor. Towcester is the oldest town in Northamptonshire and has a long, varied and interesting history. In recognition of this, many of the homes and businesses that line Watling Street are Grade 2 listed and the whole central area is designated a conservation area. It is a town of contrasts where the old mixes happily with the new; the lively Watling Street, the business and commercial lifeline of the town, lies alongside many areas of rural tranquillity. Towcester enjoys a strong sense of community and this is evidenced by the great variety of local clubs and societies that flourish in the town.

The town is well served by road, being close to the M1 and A43 providing routes north, south, east and west. Rail links to all parts of the country are available at Milton Keynes and Northampton. It has a good range of small shops and services to cater for its 9,416 inhabitants. New housing developments, with associated schools and leisure amenities, cater for the town’s growing population.

Towcester Racecourse hosts nineteen National Hunt race meetings each year, which run from October to May. The racecourse also offers first class business facilities, and caters for a variety of events such as conferences, exhibitions, and weddings. Towcester Racecourse offers the unique advantage of free admission and car parking to all race meetings, (excludes Boxing Day, Easter Sunday and Ladies Evening). The free admission policy encourages horse racing fans, old and new, to experience the excitement and spectacle of jump racing.

Stoke Bruerne Canal Museum. The museum is housed in a converted cornmill with displays on three floors illustrating the stories, artefacts and history of the canals. The towpath leading to the museum makes a pleasant walk, with a flight of seven locks to the south and the famous one and three quarter mile long Blisworth Tunnel to the north. Salcey Forest 1250 acres of woodland, which was once an ancient hunting ground. Picnic area, nature reserves, waymarked trails and information.
